Unique Rooms with a Glass Igloo in Finnish Lapland

Our igloos offer you a unique experience in the embrace of the Northern Lights and the Finnish nature. The wilderness flows in through the glass ceilings. You can see the dance of the Northern Lights, the nightless midsummer night and the spectacular foliage of Autumn. Before you retire for the night you can visit our sauna and enjoy the outdoor hot tub. After, you’ll be able to admire all these phenomena from the comfort of an electric adjustable bed, wrapped in high-quality bed linens, in our unique rooms.

Pyhä Igloos is located on the peaceful and beautiful Pyhätunturi in Finnish Lapland. The area is remote, yet facilities and services are easily accessible. Our Igloos and all our partner companies are small and independent – that means you’ll enjoy a personal, authentic service throughout your stay. Pyhätunturi is some ways away from the population centers, so you can truly enjoy the pristine nature and fresh air – while still only a 1.5 hour drive from the airport.

Scandinavian design with a green heart

Our ecological and low energy igloos offer a glimpse of Scandinavian, mainly Finnish design. Therefore, the appliances, furniture and decorations in the igloos are from well-known brands such as Alvar Aalto, Marimekko, Tapio Anttila, Hanna Korvela, Iittala, Hackman, Fiskars, and Jensen. These details, small and big, make your stay with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Our unique rooms are all identical, 32m² in size and can accommodate two to four persons. The motorized double bed under the glass ceiling accommodates two guests, while a sofa bed designed by Tapio Anttila serves as an extra bed for two.

All igloos are equipped with a spacious toilet & shower, a flat-screen TV and a kitchenette which includes the basic modern appliances for self-catering.

The amenities in the room, the location, and all the design details are there to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Therefore, the rooms have powerful heating in the winter, and a state-of-the-art air conditioning system during the summer.

On the hotel premises

Right next to our rooms, we have to common spaces for you to enjoy – a rentable sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi section, as well as a fireplace hut that is always open. Pop in and grill some sausages or just enjoy an open fire!

Sustainable practices

The igloos are crafted from Lappish timber, a material that breathes, endures and is natural. As a result, it absorbs carbon dioxide so the carbon footprint of buildings is low. Log buildings never have dampness or mold issues. In addition, we’ve installed protections during construction to account for naturally occurring ground gases such as Radon. The air inside the igloo is fresh and healthy, and filtered via two concurrent systems.

We also make sure we are ecological with energy. Heating in the Igloos is mainly geothermal – during extreme weather, extra heating is available. The solar panels on the roof of our unique rooms capture solar energy, with each igloo fitted with an air heat pump giving heat in the winter and coolness in the summer, which also reduces consumption. The electricity we use is ecological, green electricity. By selecting ecological materials and supplies and avoiding over-packaging, we uphold our love of Lapland’s nature.
